The Long Road to Rishikesh

Well I am back on WiFi after a stretch of no WiFi Zone. I am now at the Great Ganga Hotel after an overnight train from Chakki Chank .We left Dharmasala yesterday, which is a very busy, bustling spiritual center at the foot of the Himalayas. Here resides his Holiness the Dali Lama. In contrast to much of the India I have already seen, it was green and mountainous, even a liitle chilly. The streets are lined with vendors in shacks and dilapidated carts. Also a lot of poverty ,but no begging at all. People make pilgrimages here from all over the world. A lot of monks walking around, many I met were raised in USA, now studying here.

This is as close to the Dali Lamas house I got...all the news media was there as he was giving an interview.

We did yoga each morning on the terrace of our hotel in Dharmasala. Now I am wet ! It is raining in Rishikesh..I have had a difficult night on a overnight train...those births are small...buts it all a great experience yet... Stlii haven't done any shopping ...to many things to do and see, but hopefully in next city. Rishikesh is the Yoga capital of the world and I have a view of the Ganges river from my room. I will now get ready for yoga class . Will blog again later....Karin
